eskimo kiss records is a small but determined indie label located in Atlanta, GA USA. This site is designed to be a record of our trials, tribulations and hopefully triumphs of our quest to provide the very finest in independent music.

eskimo kiss was formed in January of 2000, during the "Wilmington Blizzard" in a small, coastal North Carolina town. Drawing our inspiration from such labels as Simple Machines, K, Hub City, and Endearing, to name a few, we decided to go forth with our DIY ethic and begin releasing records by ourselves and bands that we know and love. While we are primarily interested in music of the indiepop/rock variety, we don't intend to be a genre-specific label. We do, however, consider ourselves regionally-specific, with our focus being bands that reside in the Southeast and that we've developed a personal relationship with. But in a nutshell, what we hope to do with eskimo kiss is put out music that strikes a chord with us emotionally, music that is honest and real. So if this sounds like the kind of music you're into, we invite you to embark on this journey with us.

Q: Where can I buy your records?

A: If you're online (and obviously you are if you're reading this!), you can order most all our records from the fine folks at Tonevendor, Not Lame, Kool Kat, CDNOW, and Amazon.com in the U.S., and Newt Records in the UK. You can also order direct from us. Distribution to stores is currently handled by Carrot Top and Stickfigure.

If you're more into digital downloads, eskimo kiss releases are distributed by IODA, and you can find most all of our releases at online vendors such as iTunes, emusic, Sony Connect, etc..

Q: Are you on myspace?

A: Of course. So be our friend! Visit us at www.myspace.com/eskimokissrecords

Q: What's your demo policy?

A: We're a teeny-tiny label operating on a teeny-tiny budget. We're taking baby steps with this, as to hopefully not lose our shirts or sanity (or at least not all of it). This means that while we will gladly listen to your demo, chances are we will not be able to do anything with it. So with that said, you should probably save your pennies but if you still want us to have a listen, send your stuff to: eskimo kiss records, PO Box 11310, Atlanta, GA, 30310 USA. It may also be best to contact us first, send us a link to your website, etc.

Q: How'd you come up with the name eskimo kiss?

A: There are several reasons behind us choosing the name eskimo kiss. I (Kim) have fond memories of my mother showing me how to eskimo kiss when I was a little girl. (And in case you don't know, an eskimo kiss is when two people rub their noses together.) Around the time that Jeremy and I started our label, we had a wonderful dog named Pepper, who used to eskimo kiss our cat Snowden. And finally, surprisingly enough the name wasn't already taken.

Q: Can you get me a show in Wilmington?

A: EKR is no longer located in Wilmington, but I can recommend that you contact the folks at the Soapbox Laundro-Lounge. It's a great place to play and see a show, but it's gotten quite popular and might be hard to get into if you're not a touring, well-known act.

Q: Can you get me a show in Atlanta?

A: Gimme some time! I just got here.

Q: Will you listen to my mp3?

A: We don't mind mp3s, but PLEASE don't email them to us; that's just plain rude. A link to them will work just fine.

Q: I'm a teenage female vocalist. I don't have a band or play any instruments, but my friends say I sound just like Britney Spears. Will you put out my record?

A: No. Sorry.
